significant maritime organisations it is clear there is
an urgent need to have a better understanding of safety
for onboard and onshore energy storage systems.
The initial focus for Lithium-ion batteries has been on
the various chemistries and energy density.
It is now essential to establish a consistent approach
to identify safe battery-electric systems.
'Safety' for battery-electric vessels is not only about
high performance batteries. A systems approach considers
charging, awareness of the risk of running out of energy
at sea - along with the ability to prevent and fight fire.

HPiVS is an Approved Body which can issue certificates on behalf of the UK Government for products that need a UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark . To earn this status, HPiVS operate to a code of conduct and quality system that is reviewed by the British Government and are accredited by the UKAS Accreditation Service. The company offers a dual UKCA + CE (European Conformity) certification service where only the one assessment is necessary. HPiVS has clients all over the world.
