NEXT GEN Battery Safety Workshop via TEAMS

NEXT GEN BATTERY SAFETY Workshop is being held via TEAMS on 25 November 2025. The highly topical theme is - 'How Can We Make Next Generation Battery Energy Safer?'

This unique workshop will be run over 4 hours from 13:00 to 17:00 (UK) with the main focus on sub 24 metre vessels. Topics are also relevant for 25m to 100m vessels along with the ports and harbours they operate from.

The workshop includes a superb group of presenters and industry experts along with time for dynamic Q&A. Battery safety needs to be front and centre as innovative system designers are pushing the boundaries and creating a realm of new possibilities onboard.

Session One looks at Battery Safety Standards and Lessons From Other Sectors.
Session Two brings in industry solution providers and viable technology. Session Three takes a deep dive into Preventing Thermal Runaway and Managing Fire Risks.

Workshop Lead - John Haynes, 'From running training for significant maritime organisations it is clear there is an urgent need for a better understanding of safety for emerging energy technologies. It is now essential to identify a safer approach to battery energy storrage, especially lithium-ion. I have asked a number of decision makers what are their most burning issues. Their suggestions have been used to develop this programme.'

The new technologies that shape our future will arise through collaborations between scientists, engineers and industry. Energy efficiency and environmental impact are clear drivers, but others are emerging - including rapid shifts in global politics.

The unique knowledge gained from NEXT GEN presentations and discussions will help to shape decisions that lead to improvements for in-service vessels and procurement of next generation systems that fit the evolving requirements of a changing world.
